Chapter 6: Huron

I've spent a full week in Huron, and I've noticed some stuff that I may not have before when I lived here. I know this may be cheesy and lame, but I couldn't resist.

Enjoy.

• You know you aren't in Minneapolis when... you can walk my dog across the busiest street during rush hour with no problem.
• You know you aren't in Minneapolis when... the farmers market is a whopping 6 vendors and 5 of them sell canned items.
• You know you aren't in Minneapolis when... the only internet I can use is at the public library.
• You know you aren't in Minneapolis when... there are only two channels that actually work without cable.
• You know you aren't in Minneapolis when... the lady at the coffee shop doesn't know what cold press is, and carries on to make my 'cold coffee' by filling up a cup of ice and pouring hot coffee over it.
• You know you aren't in Minneapolis when... the air at gas stations is free.
• You know you aren't in Minneapolis when... you walk into a grocery store and there isn't even an organic produce section. The shame!
• You know you aren't in Minneapolis when... hip people are the ones NOT on their bikes.
• You know you aren't in Minneapolis when... everyone waves at you, especially if you have a dog on your walk.
• You know you aren't in Minneapolis when... the thrift stores mark down vintage items for quick sale.
• You know you aren't in Minneapolis when... you can hop on your bike in the middle of town, and be on gravel roads in a matter of 1 mile.
• You know you aren't in Minneapolis when... you dread going out because you know that you'll bump into at least 3 people along the way whose names you can't remember, but who insist on catching up for five minutes.
• You know you aren't in Minneapolis when... you look outside and can see the beautiful sunset in all it's glory and splendor, for miles upon miles.
• You know you aren't in Minneapolis when... your chances of finding any other genre on the radio besides country is about 1:8
• You know you aren't in Minneapolis when... the coffee shops close between 2 and 4 on Saturdays.

Well that's all folks. I just spent 15 minutes trying to put some of my phone pics on here, but of course, the Library won't allow me to save pics on the computer from the internet.

Peace

  1. I like this post! Makes me think of my time in Floyd. *shudder*... especially the puny farmers market, lack of cold press coffee, and early coffee shop closing times.

Big city & small town cultures are SOOOO different... But I like a bit of both.

Thanks for sharing this post:) Love you!!!
